John Anderson

John was appointed as the CEO of Edison Young People at the start of 2025, bringing with him a wealth of experience in educational leadership and operational management. Before joining Edison, John served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Aspris Children’s Services, where he spearheaded the Education Division across Scotland, England, and Wales. Under his leadership, the division embarked on a transformative school improvement journey, achieving exceptional outcomes in both educational quality and commercial success. He managed a portfolio of 34 schools alongside numerous social care settings, including children's homes and supported living services for adults.

John's career prior to Aspris was marked by over a decade with Priory Education and Children’s Services, where he held various leadership positions. His journey with Priory took him from Aberdeen to Kent, with roles that included Head Teacher at Sheridan School, Regional Manager, Operations Director, and culminating in his role as Managing Director.

John's initial professional chapter was in technology, working as a Process Engineer at COMPAQ (now Hewlett-Packard). Later, he transitioned into education, qualifying as a Design and Technology (DT) teacher for mainstream schools before dedicating his career to supporting students with SEND particularly those with autism and or SEMH needs.

Outside of his professional life, John cherishes his role as a father to his young family. His leisure time is spent enjoying outdoor activities, including coastal adventures, camping, cycling, and walking with his wife, children, and their dog, Harley.
